Danza Contemporánea de Cuba

Danza Contemporánea de Cuba - Katharsis Morphé, Reversible, Mambo 3XXI

“Contemporary avant-garde and Caribbean sensuality—a ballet company full of surprises”—this is the tagline of Cuba’s largest contemporary dance company. Danza Contemporánea de Cuba looks back on a history spanning more than 50 years. It was founded in the year of Fidel Castro’s revolution. All the dancers are trained in Cuba’s great ballet tradition, which they continually expand with modern European and Latin American styles. Their repertoire is not limited to Cuban traditions; it ranges from choreographer George Céspedes, a member of their own company, to the Spaniard Rafael Bonachela and the Swede Mats Ek. In Cologne, they will perform for the first time with three very different works.
