Marcos Morau

Marcos Morau studied photography, movement, and theater in Barcelona and New York. He creates worlds and imaginary landscapes in which movement and visual elements merge. Since 2005, he has led the collective “La Veronal,” bringing together artists from the fields of dance, film, photography, and literature. Morau and “La Veronal” have since gained international acclaim and are featured at all major festivals. He choreographs for various ensembles, such as “Aterballetto,” “Nederlands Dans Theater,” and “Ballet de L’Opera de Lyon,” and teaches at various universities. In 2023 and 2025, he was named Choreographer of the Year by the journalists of the trade journal TANZ. Since the 2023–24 season, he has been Artist in Residence at the “Staatsballett Berlin,” and since the 2025–26 season, Artist in Residence at the “Nederlands Dans Theater.”
